Auction timeout overrides
Auction timeout overrides let you set a custom auction window per campaign on a given publisher. The auction window is the time the Relay waits for a buyer to respond before closing the auction. By default this is set at the publisher level; overrides let you tighten or loosen it for specific campaigns without changing the global publisher setting.
Important: Publisher-level setting only. Requires the Experimenter role. Appears with an Experimental badge in the UI.
To open this setting: click a Publisher row in the Ping Control table → Relay settings tab → scroll to Campaigns auction timeout.
Setup
Adding a campaign
Click Select to open the campaign picker. Select one or more campaigns. Each selected campaign gets its own timeout row in the section.
To remove all overrides at once, click Remove all.
Setting the timeout
Each campaign row has two controls:
Control | Behavior |
|---|---|
Auto toggle | When ON, Kaliper calculates the auction timeout automatically based on traffic data for that campaign. When OFF, you enter a manual value. |
Auction timeout, ms | Only editable when Auto is OFF. Enter the timeout in milliseconds. Changes are saved on apply. |
Starting with Auto ON is recommended unless you have a specific reason to set a fixed window.
How timeouts affect the table
The Ping Control table has two columns related to auction timing: Avg T: Win (average time of winning bids) and Max T: Win (maximum time of winning bids). These show you how your actual bid response times compare to the window you've configured. If Max T: Win is close to or exceeds your configured timeout, you may be dropping late but valid bids — consider widening the window for that campaign.
Limitations
Per-publisher only. Overrides are configured on a publisher. There is no way to override the timeout at the target or buyer level.
Experimenter role required. Users without the Experimenter role do not see this section.
No per-campaign disable. To remove a campaign's override and fall back to the publisher default, remove it from the list using the row's remove button, or use Remove all to clear everything.
